Hiring a photographer to tell the story of your wedding is a big deal...really, really, BIG deal. Or at least it is to us. See, there are times where we don't want you to hire us. Yes, you read that right. Let me explain... When you hire a photographer for your wedding you need to have 100% confidence in their skill AND vision. We photographers are unique. We have different styles, personalities, equipment, etc. and that in combination with each other, makes us and are art what we are. And this art...the combination of all of what makes your photographer tick, is why you should be hiring them first and foremost. Sure, you may think they're a really cool person, or maybe they were running a special that you just couldn't pass up, but in the end, if your photographer's art isn't your style, then PLEASE do not hire them. See, the thing is that even the sweetest deal isn't sweet if you end up in disappointment because you were "pinning" all of these "light and airy" bridal images and instead you hired "dark and moody"...just as an example.
Hiring us for our style, our art, is one of the biggest things that we stress to our couples during their initial consult with us. That being said, sitting down and actually meeting our future bridal couples (or any clients for that matter) is very important to us. Early on in our endeavor into the world of wedding photojournalism we made the mistake of not meeting with one of our clients before their wedding and sadly, this did not end well for us. We were hired for our portfolio building prices and not for our style and let's just say our style was not on par with what the bride was looking for. Not that her style was bad, or wrong, it just wasn't TBD Photography. After this incident we vowed NEVER to let someone hire us first without meeting us and making sure they love our art.
We had good intentions... Then just last year we let two couples hire us sight unseen; HOWEVER, one was a referral from a past bride to an out-of-state couple that makes meeting a tad difficult and we made sure we reiterated to these couples that this is highly unusual (albeit two in one year) to not meet and to make sure that they check out our portfolio and love it. And they did... And we lucked out...BIG TIME. Both couples were beyond amazing and we're so grateful to have met them and yes, they love our art. :)
Without further ado... Meet Mr. & Mrs. Bingham, our long distance couple and referral from another amazing couple of ours:
Thank you two for sharing your beautiful day with us and honoring us by choosing us to capture it.
